The Foreign Area Officer Association (FAOA) invites you to our next Distinguished Speaker Luncheon on Friday, 26 January 2018 at the Fort McNair Officers’ Club. Our guest of honor at the event will be Dr. R. Evan Ellis. Dr. Ellis is research professor in Latin American Studies at the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute. He has published more than 170 works, including: China in Latin America: The Whats and Wherefores (Lynne Rienner Publishers, 2009); The Strategic Dimension of Chinese Engagement with Latin America (William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, 2013); and, China on the Ground in Latin America (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2014). Dr. Ellis has presented his work at a wide variety of government and non-government forums in 26 countries, has given testimony on Chinese Activities in Latin America to the U.S. Congress, and is a regular commentator in broadcast and print media. Dr. Ellis holds a Ph.D. in political science with a specialization in comparative politics.
